Overview

Pikey Peak Trek is not just a trekking trip but also an adventurous peak climbing up to the tallest hills of Solukhumbu Pikey Danda. This Pikey hill is most popular for its sunrise and sunset views and one can take pleasure in the magnificent sight of the peaks beyond the Kathmandu Valley to the plains along with the Himalayan range of Mt. Everest, Makalu, Kanchenjungha, Annapurna, Gauri Shankar, Lhotse, Lhotse Shar, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, Number, Khatang, Karyalung, Shishapangma, Mera Peak and Thamserku The name Pikey is derived from the two titles of the Sherpas. In July, the great celebration takes place here as the locals worship their tribe god, the eastern Chyabo Pikey, as Pikey Hlapchen Karbu in the celebrations.

Pikey Peak Trekking (4,065 m) route is almost a 12-13 days trek. After the arrival in Kathmandu and some of the sightseeing here in Kathmandu, we fly straight to Phaplu 35 min. Pikey peak trekking trail passes through the places like Jiri-Chaulakharka-Nagaur- to reach the Pikey Danda (Hill) area. Another trail leads from Pikey Danda to Phaplu through Panch Pokhari and Tamakhani which is located northeast of the district centre Salleri. On the way to the trek up to pikey peak, you will pass through century-old monasteries, mani walls, and stone and Buddhist stupa at Kerung, yak herding can be seen at different places accompanied by unique landscapes and sceneries high altitude vegetation of Himalaya floras and faunas. While returning back your trail will take you to the famous Thuptenchholing Monastery where you can observe traditional Tibetan medicinal therapy and villages with Delightful Sherpa people with whom you can enjoy your ending part of the trek.

Pike Peak Base Camp Trekking is one of the popular trekking trails in the Everest region, probably one of the lower places to see Mt. Everest (8848 m).

Itinerary

Day 1:
Drive from Kathmandu(1300m) to Dhap Bazaar(2900m)

Today morning after breakfast, you will go to Dhap bazaar by jeep. The road follows the way of the Sunkoshi River and Tama Koshi River. It takes about 7-8 hours to reach there. You will relish the view of greeneries and rivers while reaching there. After reaching there, you will stop at a small village where you will be enjoying the tasty Nepali food at Ghurmi. After having your meal, you will start your trek. After 3-4 hours of walking, you will reach Dhap Bazaar. You can be familiar with the lifestyle of the local people over there.

Day 2:
Dhap Bazaar(2900m) to Jhapre(2930m)

Today, you will have your breakfast and then start your trip to Sign. The trip follows the dusty and rough road to Jhapre. While walking along the rough road, you can view Mt Everest and other peaks. There you can also see Buddhist Stupa and Gumba. You can also view amazing landscapes between the Solukhumbu and Okhaldhunga districts. You can also perceive the villagers’ life and local farming. You can relish the views of Mt Everest and Mt Number.

Day 3:
Jhapre(2930m) to Pikey Base Camp(3600m)

The trail starts on the bumpy road and you will quickly climb to reach Lamju. While you reach Lamju, the path continues in two different directions and you will choose the way towards Pikey peak. As you move forward, you will pass through Rhododendron forests and pine forests until you reach the Bulbule. You will also pass by some Mani stones and yak’s house and beautiful pastures which move towards Toriphule Danda. Now you need to walk about two hours to reach Pikey peak base camp.

Day 4:
Climb to Pikey Peak(3600m) and trek to Kande1550m

Early in the morning, you will start your trek by walking up through the hillside. The way mostly involves climbing stones along with exploring the fascinating views of the region. On your way, you can also do some refreshments and continue your trip. After 4-5 hours of your effort, you will reach the destination of your trip at Pikey Peak(4032m) which is very exciting. You can also view beautiful views of mountain ranges along with the sunrise. From there you can also view many mountains like Mount Everest, Gauri Shanker, Mount Makalu and many more. Then you will descend back to Kande.

Day 5:
Kande(1550m) to Junbesi(2860m)

From Kande, you will descend a trail to reach your today’s final destination to Junbesi. You will have to cross Lamjura La. On the way, you can see different mountains like Mt. Everest and a Number of Himal closely. Following the same way, the path goes towards the Takar Village through which you will reach the Junbesi. On the way to Junbesi, you can see different Junbesi Monastery, Hillary schools and Sherpa’s Village.

Day 6:
Junbesi(2860) to Phaplu(2413m)

Yesterday, you visited different Junbesi’s Monastery, Hillary schools and Sherpa’s Village. So now you will visit the main path of Solu at Phaplu. On the way to Phaplu, you can see the beautiful scenery of the mountains through the beautiful villages. Relishing the business and walking slowly will finally take you to the destination Phaplu. Then you will be staying in a Local Sherpa Lodge.

Day 7:
Phaplu(2413m) to Kathmandu(1400m)

At the apportioned time in the morning, you will drive back to Kathmandu from Phalpu. You can also have a delightful view during the drive on your way. It takes almost 7-8 hours to reach Kathmandu and you will directly go to the hotel to get some rest.
