Lower Dolpo Trek is a remarkable trekking trip in the lower region of the Dolpo, taking you to the most magnificent and isolated landscapes of the western Himalayan zones in Nepal. Dolpo is a high – altitude and dry vegetation Tibetan plateau like region surrounded by chain of Himalayas which includes the Dhaulagiri (8,172m) in western part of Nepal in upper part of Dolpa district. The Dolpo region lies protected under Shey Phoksundo National Park, the park preserves the vast eco-system rich in flora and fauna of the region. This isolated region is sparsely populated with an estimation of less than 5,000 people inhibited in the place. These people are rich in tradition, their religion and language which are very closely linked to the Tibetan Buddhist; actually it falls among the rare area where the pre-Buddhist Bon Po religion is still practiced.
Lower Dolpo Trek starts from the Juphal airport which is the only way of transportation mode that links the Dolpo with rest of the cities in Nepal. From the Juphal airport it takes about three days to reach Dolpo via horse but for trekking you need to walk for a several chain of days one after another taking you to different villages for ending your days. This trek also takes you to the Phoksundo Lake and its waterfall, lying at the altitude of (3,627m.).The lake is deepest lake among entire Himalayan Lakes. The trekking trail offers you the most spectacular view of the Panoramic Mountains like Gutumba (5,608m) and Mataumba (5,767m) Bhalu Himal (5,460m.). This geographically beautiful landscape of Doplo enfolds diverse variety of flora and fauna and the rugged and rough terrain the entire area shelters rare ecosystem. Very few tourist visit the region of Dolpo every year, traversing through the rocky and rough topography is really difficult but trekking in the region of Dolpo is an incredibly lifetime adventure.
