• Travelling through the Langtang National park we get to see huge variety of flora and fauna. This area is richly inhabited by many animals like rhesus monkey, snow leopard, Himalayan black bear etc and if we are lucky enough we may also get glimpse of a very rare and endangered species of Red panda.
  • On our way up to Kyangjing gompa we come across many rivers like Bhote koshi, Langtang Khola, these rivers are widely known for activities like rafting.
  • Mesmerizing view of different mountains like Langtang Lirung, Gangchempo, Dorje Lakpa Visit to the holy lake of Gosainkunda which has of very prime mark in the Hindu culture. This lake is attributed as adobe of Lord Shiva and goddess Gauri. The route also covers other lakes like Saraswati kunda, Bhairav Kunda, Surya Kunda.

Langtang Gosainkunda Trek is one of the wonderful trekking trails in Langtang region that take us through the isolated and beautiful valley of Langtang up to high glaciated lake at Gosainkunda.  Langtang region is Situated at north of Kathmandu valley and is mostly inhabited by Tamangs. Since the region borders Tibet peoples here have adopted Tibetan culture, language and lifestyle. Langtang valley offers the most spectacular and incomparable view of the Mountains like Langtang Lirung (7,246 m.). Gangchempo (5,846 m.), Dorje Lakpa (6,966 m.) etc.Langtang Gosainkunda trekking is one of the major destination in Langtang region which touches traditional ethnic villages and untouched forests up to the peaks of Langtang Lirung.

Langtang Gosainkunda Trek Begins from Dunche. We move forward to Syabru Bensi – a beautiful village inhibited by Sherpa people and located at the edge of the Langtang National park. From Syabru Bensi we ascend toward the Langtang valley up to the Langtang National park passing through oak and rhododendron forest and crossing the deep gorges in between the river Bhote Koshi and Langtang Khola.  From here our trail heads a little further up the valley to reach Kyangjing Gompa. Kyangjing Gompa is widely renown for the yak cheese. We also explore amazing glaciers hidden in the valley of Nubamatang, which mark the gateway into Tibet. From Kyangjing Gompa we finally ascend up to high Tibetan plateau to reach holy Lake of Gosainkunda, which has of very prime spot in the Hindu culture. According to Hindu myth, it is believed that Gosainkunda was created by Lord Shiva. Lord Shiva after swallowing the poison threatening to destroy the world pierced a glacier with his trident to obtain water in order to quench his thirst.

The best part of the trek is that this trekking route is opened throughout the year but mid February to June and from September to mid December are ideal period to make the trip since the season is at its best during these period and main highlights of the trek is at its pinnacle.

Day 01:Kathmandu(1400m) to Syabru Besi(2380m)

Duration of time:7-8 hours 

Starting our trek, first of all you will catch a local bus from Kathmandu to Syabru Besi. You can reach Syabru Besi after a 7 to 8 hours drive. During the drive, you can enjoy the splendid views of snow-capped mountains, green hills, jungles and many rivers on the route.

Day 02:Trek from Syabru Besi(2380m) to Lama Hotel(2480m)

Duration of time:7-8 hours 

After having your breakfast, your move forward to Lama Hotel.On the way, you will come across a suspension bridge. You will be ascending and descending throughout the trek along with the beauty of rhododendrons,pines and oaks. After a few hours of trek, you will arrive at six lodges at Changthang which is called Lama Hotel.

Day 03:Lama hotel(2480m) to Langtang(3430m)

Duration of time:6-7 hours

Early morning, you will ascend from Lama hotel and enjoy the amazing arena of different mountains with beautiful views of the waterfall. Your today’s destination is Langtang so you will be ascending towards the valley. The view from there is really fantastic. You then will pass from an ancient Buddhist monastery and after steadily walking for a few hours, you will reach your destination and take some rest.

Day 04:Langtang(3430m) to Kyanjin Gompa(3900m)

Duration of time:3 hours

After your breakfast, you will begin your day by trekking to Kyanjin Gompa from Langtang. During the trek, you will take that route from where you can view  the largest Mani wall in Nepal made by the stone inscription and then the water mill. In addition, you will also pass through a few wooden bridges. As you will reach Kyanjin during the midday, you can also visit the monastery, glacier, ice fall, birds and cheese factory of  local yak products established by the Swiss.

Day 05:Acclimatization in Kyanjin Gompa(3900m) 

Duration of time:6-7 hours

As you acclimatize in Kyanjin Gompa, you can either opt to rest or go for hiking to Tserko Ri above 5000m for mesmerizing scenery of Himalayan like Mt. Langtang(3430), Mt. Lirung(7245m), Mt. Ganesh(7422m), Mt. Dorje Lakpa(6966m), Mt. Gangchenpo(6387m), Mt. Yala peak(5520m). You can also explore the monastery while enjoying the Himalayas, glaciers, birds and yak grazing land.

Day 06:Trek from Kyanjin Gompa(3900m) to Lama Hotel(2480m)

Duration of time:6 hours

You will be retracing the same route you used earlier. The route starting from Kyanjin Gompa proceeds to the Langtang Khola and Langtang village and then leads to Ghora Tabela. After having your lunch, you will again continue the steep path descending to Lama Hotel.

Day 07:Trek from Lama Hotel(2480m) to Thulo Syabru(2200m)

Duration of time:5 hours

From Lama Hotel, you will be walking downwards for 3 hrs via Bamboo. After you reach Landslide Lodge, you will ascend left towards Thulo Syabru, a big village surrounded by Tamangs where you will have lunch and dinner. You can capture the magnificent view of waterfalls you come across the route.

Day 08:Trek from Thulo Syabru(2200m) to Chandan Baari(3584m) 

Duration of time:5 hours

Today, the trail will be only ascending. You will be going straight upwards through a steep path and after about 4 hours you reach Khopra Danda. After having lunch there, you will continue to ascend up to Chandan Bari (Sing Gompa). You can relish the magnificent view of Ganesh Himal and high cliffs seen on the way

Day 09:Trek from Chandan Baari(3584m)  to Gosainkunda(4381m)

Duration of time:5-6 hours

Starting our trek from Chandan Bari, we gradually head up to Cholang pati where you can observe peaks like Ganesh Himal and Mt. Annapurna and rhododendron forests. After 1 hour, you will find yourself at Laura Binayak where you will be having your lunch.Then the first hour of 2 hour walk, leads you to the top of Laura Binayak and the next hour you will be arriving at Gosainkunda. You can enjoy the stay with the scene of Gosainkunda and Nag Kunda lake.

Day 10:Gosainkunda(4381m) to Ghopte(3440m)

Duration of time:5-6 hours

After breakfast, ascending to the top of Gosainkunda Pass you will begin your trek. You will follow the route of Bhairab Kunda, Dudh Kunda, Chandra Kunda, Surya Kunda. The path is a bit challenging to walk as it is rough. After exploring the views, you go downwards for 2 hours to reach Ghopte which is located in the midforest.

Day 11:Trek from Ghopte(3440m) to Tarke Gyang(2550m)

Duration of time:5-6 hours

Descending through Ghopte, we enter greenwood of rhododendron and spruce which is popular for  bird watching. Leaving the forest, we reach Melamchi village through the banks of Melamchi Khola. After enjoying the cool and crystal clear water of Melamchi Khola, you move towards Tarke Gyang located at the other side of the valley.

Day 12:Trek from Tarke Gyang(2550m) to Kakani(2000m)

Duration of time:5-6 hours

Today you will be descending almost for 10m low according to Altitude from Tarke Gyang to reach Kakani. There is a Gumpa in Tarke which is of buddhism religion.Likewise your path will not be scraped downhill. Once in 2019 miss world Toni-Ann reached which was really great.Again you will be descending all the way through many villages like Ghangyul, Setighyang, Chimighyang and Shermathang.

Day 13:Trek from Kakani(2000m) to Kathmandu(1400m)

Duration of time:4 hours

You will take a local bus from Kakani to return to Kathmandu. It takes nearly 4 hours to enter Kathmandu valley. During the drive through serpentine road, you can explore green hills, rivers and terrace farming.
